This morning this was waiting for me:
I’ve only been working at my new job for two weeks and on my birthday my new coworkers brought in two cakes. They sure know how to make a girl feel welcome!

It’s my first Christmas being away from home and I”m not too thrilled with the idea, but less than two weeks later I will be home. Merry Christmas everyone! We love you and miss you!

We made it back to Germany, four large suitcases and all. We were welcomed with the familiar smell of body odor and cigarette smoke. I suppose it is better than the familiar smell of Chicago – urine and garbage.

T-minus 30 days till we are officially in Germany! Not particularly nervous, more like excited. Joe and I are getting ready for the big move by making lists of things we still have to do and things we would like to do once we get there. Rome here we come! I am also making a wish list of things I would like to buy, like a Danish sideboard, italian linens and an Audi. Last night we were looking up what kind of housing is available but there were not a lot of images.
I can’t wait to see if the houses really do all look as if they belong in Whoville.
